MC United Soccer Club Information

What to Expect

This section of the website is intended to address how our MC United Soccer Club works. The left-hand navigation provides you with more detailed information regarding specific aspects of our club.

In general:

  • When you register your child for MC United they are placed on an appropriate team (U8 - U12). For U12 and above, players may try out for Select teams if the Club determines it has enough players ready to compete at this level, enough parent interest to sustain and support this higher level of commitment and has sufficient options for those players who do not elect to tryout. Those who are not chosen for a Select team will play on an MCU Classic team. MCU also provides a State team option — for those interested in a higher level of competition. State teams do require an even higher level of commitment and travel.
  • Your coach will hold a pre-season parents meeting where he/she outlines his/her coaching philosophy and expectations. At that time, the coach and parents will determine practice times. Teams generally practice three times a week (sometimes two times a week for U9-U10) for a minimum of 90 minutes each practice.
  • For the Spring season, teams will play in Central Wisconsin Soccer League (CWSL) games against other teams in CWSL. These games are scheduled by CWSL and include both home and away games. Teams may travel to Eagle River, Marshfield, Stevens Point, Rhinelander, Waupaca and Wisconsin Rapids .
  • Each team will also play in three WYSA-sanctioned tournaments.
  • Participation in Winter non-sanctioned indoor tournaments (usually 3 v 3) is at the discretion of the coach and parents.
  • MCU Uniforms are used for a three-year cycle (after which time the manufacturer no longer makes the uniforms). Each season, parents will receive an email from Stefans Soccer indicating when to purchase their uniforms online. Please note that all uniform numbers are assigned by the Uniform Committee in order to ensure we do not have repeat uniform numbers within age groups. No requests for numbers are granted. For more information, visit the Uniforms page.
